What is matcha?

Stone-milled powder of shade-grown Japanese green tea. Unlike steeped tea, you drink the whole leaf — so you get more flavour and more of the good stuff.

Ceremonial vs culinary grade — what's the difference?

Ceremonial is first-harvest, smooth and sweet, made to drink whisked with water. Culinary/latte grade is bolder and built for baking and strong lattes. Both Nika grades are ceremonial.

Where does Nika matcha come from?

Uji, Kyoto — the historic home of matcha. Family-owned estates, shade-grown tencha, stone-milled in micro-batches.

How much caffeine is in matcha?

About 60–70mg per 2g serving — similar to a small coffee, but the L-theanine makes it feel calm instead of jittery.

Will matcha give me jitters or a crash?

No. Caffeine + L-theanine give a steady, focused lift and a soft landing — no spike, no crash.

How do I make matcha?

Sift 2g, add 60–80ml water at 70–80°C, whisk fast for 15–20 seconds. Full guide on /brew.

How do I make a matcha latte or iced matcha?

Whisk 2g into a splash of water, then add ~200ml milk (oat is great). For iced, pour over ice first, then milk.

How do I store it and how long does it last?

Airtight, cool, dark, away from moisture. Best within ~1 year sealed and within a few weeks of opening.

Is matcha good for you?

It's rich in antioxidants (EGCG) and gives calm focus. It's a lovely daily habit — not a miracle cure or a weight-loss hack, and we won't pretend otherwise.

Imperial Reserve or Ritual — which should I get?

Ritual for every day and lattes. Imperial Reserve for the slow, straight, special cup. Can't lose.
